Steam Winter Sale December 18 Rumored Leak: Christmas Discounts on PC and Mac Games

Valve's Steam client is known for launching major events, like their Steam Summer Sale, which lets PC and Mac gamers avail popular video games at discount rates. This time around, an alleged leak via PayPal Japan hints at an upcoming Winter Sale slated for December 18.

A user via Reddit posted an interesting image that mentioned something about a Steam Christmas Sale. The image is a screenshot taken from an email sent out by PayPal Japan.

According to another user, who provided a translation in the comments, the message in the image reads, "Big Christmas Sale, up to 75% off! (From 12/18) Steam's (?) entertainment platform, select from a variety of games, over 3500! PC, MAC, Linux, mobile, and even television, available on Steam's service."

While this is evidently a rough translation, it still hints at the idea that Steam will be having another major sale coming up in the near future.

On a side note, other commenters in the Reddit post went ahead and discussed the various games they are looking to pick up if and when the sale launches. For now, there's no word as to which titles will be listed at bargain barrel rates.

The allegedly upcoming sale should not come as a surprise as Steam usually launches a few sale events during the year. Even though the arguably largest sale takes place in the Summer, the Winter sale is sure to bring about some major price cuts.

In the meantime, PC and Mac gamers should constantly be on the lookout for weekend deals that are always offered over the game distribution client. In fact, free games are often released for a weekend's duration which allows gamers to try it out before they choose to buy it or not.

As it stands, gamers all over the world are waiting for official word about an upcoming Steam Winter Sale, but for now, they can only hope that the leaked image holds water.
