'Starbound' Release Date News Update: Kickstarter Game Finally Launches On July 22 After 3 Years In Development
Three years have passed since "Starbound" was launched on Kickstarter. Upon its initial launch in April of 2013, "Starbound" became a huge Kickstarter success and was later made an Early Access title on Steam in December of the same year.
Now, Chucklefish Games is proud to announce that the game is finally complete and will be signing out of Early Access a week from its official release date on July 22.
"After (nearly five) years, the game we set out to make finally exists, and to say that it all feels a bit surreal would be a massive understatement!" Chucklefish stated, according to Polygon.
Chucklefish Games also plans to moderately update the game; putting in more creative ideas and content to improve the game as time passes.
There is no rumor or leak yet regarding what those creative ideas and content may entail, that may be added later on into the game. But whatever it is, it will definitely be something that buyers of the game should keep an eye on.
Steam's Early Access is a funding method in the video gaming industry. Players can pay for games that are still in development and be able to submit feedback and follow the game's evolution as it gets updated and add content until the day it's completed when they get to keep access to the full game.
The purpose is to help game developers be able to continue to work on the game because of the funds that they are getting from the testers.
According to Gamespot, the price of "Starbound" remains at $15 in the Steam Store.
