'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Sets New Thursday Night Box Office Record, Expects Over $230M This Weekend

Since we can't spill any spoilers about the previous "Star Wars" movie just yet, here's something interesting about the most awaited film of the year.

According to BBC, analysts say that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" could become the biggest selling movie of all time. That's right, Luke, Leia and Han Solo have done it again! It is expected that the movie will be a big hit, but the numbers are extremely high and astonishing.

Here's what we know so far:

The movie is expected to gross a minimum of 230 million dollars (United States and Canada only) by the end of the weekend according to Wall Street Journal. The current opening-weekend record is $209 million held by "Jurassic World."

On Thursday night, after its first screening around seven in the evening, "The Force Awakens" grossed $57 million domestically, Disney said via WSJ; easily surpassing previous opening night record set by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" in 2011 (which is $43.5 million).

It had grossed an amount of more than a hundred million dollars by Friday afternoon, according to the people with access to ticket-sales data. The previous record for a combined Thursday night and Friday opening was $91 million, also set by "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2."

As of Saturday morning, industry analysts currently see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" with an opening day record of $119M-$120M. The movie is on its way for an all-time record opening of $246M-$254M at the domestic box office, according to Deadline.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opened in 44 foreign markets by Thursday, where it grossed a total of $72.7 million, according to Disney.

U.K., Germany, Australia and Brazil holds the records for the biggest opening day of all time, while poor results were seen in France, Italy and South Korea.
