'Star Wars' Movies Digital Download News: All Franchise Movies, Plus Deleted Scenes & Interviews Available Friday

Here is some good news for 'Star Wars' fans, as the entire series will be available for digital download from this Friday. In addition, fans, who download the series, will receive many bonus features that they can view in digital HD format.

Quoting a joint statement issued by Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd and 20th Century Fox on Monday, IB Times reports that from Friday, fans will be able to purchase the entire movies in the 'Star Wars' franchise separately or in a bundle from various platforms such as Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Xbox Video, PlayStation Store, Vudu and Verizon FiOS. Variety reported that all the downloaded movies will be made available in the customers' account at Disney Movies Anywhere, while 20th Century Fox will have the rights for the fourth episode of 'A New Hope.'

In a statement, Walt Disney Studios president Alan Bergman said, "It's only fitting that audiences enjoy this legendary saga and its many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories on a wide variety of platforms, and we're very excited to finally bring all six films to Digital HD for the first time."

In addition to the films, there will be bonus features, which include a minimum of five deleted scenes from each of the six episodes as well as interviews with the creative team counting those with creator-director George Lucas, design director Doug Chiang and sound designer Ben Burtt. According to Variety, the digital bonus offer may be dissimilar among different retailers, who will set the price for the individual episodes as well as the package.

Meanwhile, Lucasfilm president Kathlen Kennedy issued a statement that read, "These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we've created some very special bonus material which delves into the saga's rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists -- the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life."

As of now, the upcoming seventh installment of the franchise 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' is scheduled for release on Dec. 18.
