'Star Wars' Film Collection News: Digital Downloads for all Franchise Movies Released
Lucas Studios have announced the digital release of the "Star Wars' saga, which will be available for download starting April 10, 2015.
The films will be available on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes as well as other major digital distributors.
After a lot of negotiations, between Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox, the studio which released the original six movies, the announcement came to the audience.
Alan Bergman, president of the Walt Disney Studios, speaking on the announcement of the digital release, said, "It's only fitting that audiences enjoy this legendary saga and its many fascinating behind-the-scenes stories on a wide variety of platforms, and we're very excited to finally bring all six films to Digital HD for the first time," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Reportedly, additional bonus material of all the six films, along with never-before-released conversations between legendary "Star Wars' artists, deleted scenes and "Star Wars: Discoveries From Inside' features will also be available for download, with the digital release.
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, speaking on the addition of bonus material, said, "We've created some very special bonus material which delves into the Saga's rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary "Star Wars' artists - the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life," according to Variety.
This digital release comes ahead of the release of the movie "Star Wars: The Force Awaken,' which is set to release on Dec. 18, 2015.
