'Star Wars: Battlefront' Release Date: EA To Reveal Franchise Reboot in April

Not much has been said about the remake of the beloved Star Wars: Battlefront video game since its E3 announcement. While DICE Studios located in Sweden showed a brief teaser, talked about maps, and rumored a holiday 2015 release, fans were anxious to hear more about the game.

Thursday, March 19, EA revealed deeper game details will be announced during the Star Wars Celebration that takes place from April 16-19 in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center.

A statement from EA said, "We could not think of a better or more appropriate place to debut the game officially for the first time than the premier event that celebrates the Star War universe and the legions of fans who have fallen in love with it."

In the trailer during last year's E3, the company explained how the team was working hard to recreate Star Wars: Battlefront. They even visit the Lucas Arts Museum and traveled to the film's most iconic locations to make sure they got everything right from the scenery to the space crafts.

Star Wars: Battlefront originally released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, original Xbox and Microsoft Windows. The release coincided with the release of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set. The game play put players right in the middle of the franchises most epic battles. This conquest-based game received positive reviews from fans and critics alike upon original release. Even Metacritic and GameRankings both gave it an 80 percent approval rating.

Somethings that DICE could improve is the single player mode and the poor AI system.

Fans are eager to see the game in action when it will be viewed by the public in April.
