'Star Wars Battlefront' Latest News, Rumors: DLC For ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ Not Happening
"Star Wars Battlefront" fans may be left disappointed, as there are no current plans for the game to include DLC based on J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens."
EA "Star Wars" revealed on Twitter the reason behind the absence of plans for integrating "Star Wars Battlefront" and "The Force Awakens." On Dec. 23, EA gave an answer to Twitter user Chris Williams, who asked if "Star Wars: Episode VII" would be included in any DLC. EA "Star Wars" tweeted that the team was focusing on the original trilogy for the release of "Star Wars Battlefront."
While "Star Wars" games are dismayed by the franchise's decision, it is assumed that there could be another set of DLC that would center on another trilogy, since Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is set to introduce another trilogy in the "Star Wars" universe.
Previously, "Star Wars Battlefront" has gained a relatively mixed response coming from both gamers and critics. In addition, the game's release generated excitement to "Star Wars" gamers and fans, as it was close to the release of Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens," which had just crossed $1 billion on a global scale, according to Entertainment Weekly.
With the proximity of the film's release and the game's release, the negation of plans for a "Star Wars: Episode VII" DLC in "Star Wars Battlefront" may also be a shock to gamers, as per Game Rant. The publication added that it was a surprise to see EA not applying leverage on the success of Abrams' film, particularly after the "Battle of Jakku" DLC.
While "Star Wars Battlefront" had not had its "The Force Awakens" DLC, it is still discounted for the holiday seasons for fans to enjoy. It is now also available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Meanwhile, Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is now showing in theaters.
