‘Star Wars Battlefront’ Latest News: DICE Developers Talks Details of Upcoming Game [VIDEO]
No one can deny the hype surrounding 'Star Wars Battlefront,' the series of first- and third-person shooter video games based on the Star Wars films by George Lucas, but the excitement has not gripped the fans alone. Even the EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment (DICE), a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, team working on the game is also enthused to create a universe that bears resemblance to the fan favorite original.
According to IB Times, recently DICE shared the customization and graphics details of the game in a tweet as well as an interview. Ken Brown, DICE technical art director, said in the official website of 'Star Wars Battlefront,' "We want you to feel like you're in the actual Star Wars universe, not just someone's reimagining of it."
In order to accomplish this, the DICE team shared that the foremost philosophy in creating a game true to the lore is in employing the right tools to support their thrust. DICE further stated that this entails a technology known as Physical Based Rendering (PBR). To put it briefly, PBR lets the developers to deliver elements in the game with a foundation on physical properties and laws. This offers a two-way benefit, both for the creators as well as the players of 'Star Wars Battlefront.'
As far as the developers are concerned, tweaking objects as well as levels is not a huge hurdle any more, as it used to be. In fact, given the correct values, elements, character, and vehicles can work in any environment that it will be placed in. Considering the comprehensive and manifold areas in 'Star Wars Battlefront,' this is a boost, at least work-wise.
On the other hand, the players will be further immersed in exploring the environment. Pragmatism becomes even more possible in the world as well as in player interaction, since the weather is one of the more different layers of gameplay realism that the developers have explored.
Aside from the technology coming with 'Star Wars Battlefront,' the developer also hinted some customization options that the players can take delight in. According to Gamepur, a tweet from the official EA Star Wars Twitter account states that the game will allow customization of different elements, counting character heads, emotes, loadouts and more.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with GamesRadar, design Director Niklas Fegraeus explained the idea of customization. The manner in which the developer envisaged customization suggests at how players would have enjoyed their physical Star Wars toy vehicles. Fegreaus said, "When you played with your Star Wars toys, you created your own battles and your own fantasies with those. ... This is essentially the same thing, but now created in a video game environment."
It is expected that further details pertaining to 'Star Wars Battlefront' will be released at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), scheduled for June 16-18 in Los Angeles. According to reports, the game is likely to arrive on Sony's PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One and the PC on Nov. 17.
