Director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that the first trailer of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', the upcoming science fiction movie installment, will be released at a few chosen Regal Cinemas during the Thanksgiving Day weekend.

A report by the IBTimes says that the news was released accidentally on Nov. 24 when Regal Entertainment released a list of nine select cinemas of the theater chain in different cities with a note announcing that the first preview of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will be premiered before the screening of all movies between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30. The notice was however promptly retracted.

While Regal Entertainment has removed the notice, J.J. Abrams was soon to use his Twitter account @Bad_Robot to confirm the news. Abrams, who earlier directed 'Star Trek', also offered some additional information saying, "A tiny peek at what we're working on - this Friday in select theaters. Hope you enjoy and have a most excellent Thanksgiving!"

Abrams, however, disappointed the fans by mentioning that the run time of the trailer was just 88 seconds.

However, soon after Abrams confirmed the news, Regal Entertainment posted the listings again and in the same way. The note now reads, "This Friday, the world premiere of the 88-second teaser of 'Star Wars Episode VII' will be revealed at select North American theatres."

At the same time, it invites fans to flock to these select theaters, saying, "Be one of the first to experience the 88-second teaser of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' at the following Regal locations. The teaser will debut before all movies starting November 28 - November 30."

The list of Regal theaters that will show the first trailer of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' before screening all movies during this weekend is as follows:
