'Star Wars 7' Cast News: Vanity Fair Snaps Photos of Gwendoline Christie and Adam Driver’s Characters
Several members of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens cast have been photographed by Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair magazine.
This photoshoot has given fans of the franchise their first look at some of he new characters making their debut in the new film. These include Captain Phasma and Kylo Ren.
Gwendolyn Christie will be playing the role of Captain Phasma. She is known for her acting in the Game of Thrones television series, and her character is featured in an armored suit. The suit has already caused her character be referred to by the nickname, "The Chrometrooper."
Vanity Fair says that Captain Phasma is a member of the first order, which is the new Empire in The Force Awakens.
Fans were also able to take a closer look at Kylo Ren, the antagonist who is portrayed by Adam Driver. He is seen in his photograph "commanding snowtroopers loyal to the evil First Order on the frozen plains of their secret base."
The actor, who is known for his work in the television series, Girls, wears a black costume and the angle at which he is photographed makes fans wonder if his character is missing a leg.
His character is confirmed to be the same one that used the lightsaber with crossguard in the first trailer for the film. Other pictures in Liebovitz's installment include Lupita Nyong'o's face, which has been motion captured for her character Maz Kanata.
There is also a photograph depicting smugglers posing in a castle, and Oscar Isaac boarding an X-Wing, as his character Poe Dameron, the rebel fighter.
