'Star Trek 3' New Cast News: Sofia Boutella Lands Lead in Upcoming Installment

Sofia Boutella of the "Kingsmen' fame, is all set to star in the upcoming movie directed by Justin Lin, "Star Trek 3', says Paramount Pictures.

Boutella, who played the assassin Gazalle in "Kingsman,' is believed to have landed a role in the next version of the "Star Trek' series. News is that she may well be joined by Idris Elba, who is believed to be in negotiations to play the villain in the new movie.

Reportedly, Paramount has slated the release of the movie for July 8, 2016, marking the 50th anniversary of the debut of the TV series.

Lin, who directed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth installments of the "Fast and Furious' franchise, got into the project after Roberto Orci backed away from directing the movie. Lin will be working on the script developed by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, according to Variety.

The movie is produced by David Ellison's Skydance Prods. And J. J. Abrams' Bad Robot, and on the cast are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and John Chu.
