'Batman' Standalone Movie News: Ben Affleck to Direct Stand Alone 'Batman'
Apparently, Ben Affleck is going to be collaborating with Geoff Johns to co write a standalone Batman movie, which Affleck will direct and star in.
Work on this feature will begin after Affleck completes his plan to helm his scripted adaptation of Live by Night, the novel by Dennis Lehane.
Johns has a lot of credibility when it comes to comics. He is the chief creative officer at DC Comics and has written some of its most iconic comic book series.
Some of the series he has written include Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flash and Superman.
Johns has also written television series based on comic superheros, including Smallville, Arrow and The Flash as well as working on the Supergirl project with Greg Berlanti for CBS.
Sources say that Affleck and John have good chemistry and have been able to find their medium when working together.
In fact, it is likely that they will have a script prepared by the end of the summer before Affleck begins to direct Live by Night in November.
Affleck postponed his work on that flick in order to star in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The Batman movie would shoot after Live by Night is finished, and the plot of the film would be linked to the Batman character that comes about after Batman V Superman and Justice League, the latter movie coming out on November 17th, 2017.
DC and Warner Bros has a long list of superhero movies that they plan to apply to the Marvel formula in which they create a cinematic universe in which characters are linked to each other and appear in various films.
