St. Louis Rams NFL News 2014: Police Demand Apology from Players after their Ferguson Protest

On Sunday, there was a lot of controversy brewing about the St. Louis Rams as they took the field. Five of the players that took the field that day, had their hands up as to say "don't shoot".

These players were exercising their free speech and they will not be punished or fined by the NFL or their coach.

These players took it upon themselves to use the time of the team introductions to show their own protest for the people of Ferguson. The five players that took part in this team protest were Jared Cook, Kenny Britt, Chris Givens, Tavon Austin, and Stedman Bailey.

The St. Louis Police Association has asked the players to make a very public and open apology for their protest during the game. The police took to every form of social media to express how they felt about the players' protest.

They said that they also have the right to freedom of speech and they thought it was incredibly rude and disrespectful of the players to protest during the opening of the game.

The players who made the protest said that they came together to do it because they have not had the chance to go down to Ferguson themselves. They said that they were not taking sides, but wanted to show the people of Ferguson that one organization can come together and show the people that they can do something good for others.

The NFL stands by its players and still continues to respect them for their decision to protest. Evidently, these players will continue to stand by the people of Ferguson as well.
