Spotify News: Music Streaming Service Now Available on PS4, PS3, & Xperia Devices
As of Monday, March 30, Spotify made its way onto PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xperia devices, which has opened up a lot of doors in regards to gaming and music.
PlayStation announced in January that its music streaming service, Music Unlimited, would be discontinued and replaced with the brand new PlayStation Music app. This app is easily accessible on owner's devices with it being available right in the dashboard.
Once this news was announced, Sony also announced that Spotify would be joining them. About two months later, users can now enjoy music on their PlayStation consoles and Xperia devices.
According to the Play Station Blog, Spotify harbors more than 30 million songs and 1.5 billion playlists. PS4 owners can listen to music and soundtrack during their gaming sessions with their favorite songs. PS3 and Xperia will feature the abilities to select playlists, skip songs, adjust the volume and more.
To get this offer on Xperia devices, owners only need the Spotify Connect feature in order to access the official Spotify app for Android or iOS. According to BGR, Sony plans to bring more exclusive features to the Spotify connect app in the future.
The account can be either the standard one, where owners will have to listen to ads, or they can upgrade their Spotify account to premium for $9.99 per month.
For those wanting to try out Spotify before committing, the PlayStation Blog said, "Music Unlimited subscribers with accounts active as of March 29, 2015, can receive 2 months of free access to Spotify Premium. New and existing Spotify users who have not previously received a trial of Spotify Premium can receive one month free."
Spotify is available for all PlayStation 4, Play Station 3 and Xperia devices now.
