SportsCenter's Anchor Rich Eisen Remembers Late Co-Anchor Stuart Scott
Recently, Rich Eisen of ESPN 'SportsCenter' fame paid his respects and gave tribute toward friend and fellow ESPN co-anchor, Stuart Scott, who passed away after losing his battle with cancer.
The news was a shock for him as he received it 10 minutes prior to his trending speech for the late Stuart Scott. Eisen bravely, but emotionally, shared memories he had with his co-anchor on the Game Day broadcast Sunday.
"I cannot believe that I'm now sitting here on television, reporting to you the news I heard about 10 minutes ago, that Stuart Scott has died," Eisen said, still stunned about the news.
Stuart's co-anchor was shocked, but he was definitely not speechless as he had much to say about his sports co-anchor. "One of the most joyful, full of life individuals I have ever come across. Lived his life the way his parents wanted him to live it, the way he felt he could live it. he broadcast the same way, a groundbreaking broadcaster in the world of sports television," Eisen continued.
Eisen previously narrated how brave Stuart was in battling cancer since he was diagnosed in 2007. The two have been co-anchors for seven years from 1993-2003 on SportsCenter. "He battled cancer as bravely as anybody else and I know there are many people out there who are battling cancer right now and would want, Stuart would want you to know to keep fighting, keep fighting and that he didn't lose this battle to cancer," Eisen continued. "He fought it as bravely as he possibly could," he added.
Scott was reportedly awarded the Jimmy V Award for perseverance last July at the 2014 ESPYS where he also talked about his ailment.
Meanwhile, Eisen concluded in asking everyone to pray for his dear friend's family whom he left. "Pray for Stuart and his family, his parents, his siblings, his girlfriend, his ex-wife, everybody who he loved and that includes you, the sports fans, even those who hated on him. He thrived on it. That's 'cause he is who is and was-I can't believe it's a past tense-who he was."
"I love you Stuart," he said, "Wherever you are, Godspeed. Rest in peace."
