'Spiderman' New Movie News, Rumors: Actor J.K. Simmons Interested In Reprising Role As J. Jonah Jameson

Some interesting news has risen about the future of the 'Spider-Man' franchise, something that studios, along with fans, cannot predict the outcome of.

Actor J.K. Simmons has confirmed in a recent Howard Stern interview that he has heard rumors about there being another Spider-Man movie and that he'd be really interested in reprising his role from the first iteration, as J. Jonah Jameson, Editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle.

Here was the actor's exact words:

Stern: "Hey, we doing another [Spider-Man] or what?"

Simmons: "I just heard that we...that's a possibility."

Stern: "Would you do it?"

Simmons: "Absolutely."

Simmons was hands down one of the best performers in the movie and fans would accept him switching universes, such as existing in the 'Amazing Spider-Man' franchise.

However it wasn't specified in what Spider-Man movie the actor was referring to. He could have been speaking about the franchise he was involved in, or a totally new reboot.

The only 'Spider-Man' film currently on the table would be the Sinister Six movie that is still projected in 2016. It could have been a possibility the actor was referring to that, but not likely.

There has been no news on what exactly the franchise will be facing moving forward, but it isn't believed that they would cast another actor. The recently Oscar-nominated Simmons role as Jameson is far too coveted by fans.

"Whether or not Sony and Marvel can hammer out an agreement over sharing Spider-Man, including the highly respectable Simmons in what may be his signature role could either serve as a connective element for fans or just a distraction. It will ultimately depend on Sony's angle going forward and if the character will fit into the inevitable next incarnation of the iconic webslinger's universe," writes Screen Rant.
