'Spider-Man' Movie News: Writers Says New Peter Parker Will Be Comedic

We recently gained news that 'Vacation' writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein were slated to write the rebooted 'Spider-Man' solo film.

The two have refrained from saying anything about the project up until now in a recent interview with NPR. They first state the fact that they're thrilled to be working on the film. They then go into what kind of Peter Parker they'll be writing for in this reboot.

"He's a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he's an outcast and a geek through humor," Daley says. "It is sort of the safety net for geeks like us, so I think we can totally relate to where he's coming from. As well as the superpowers, which we also have."

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has hinted at this iteration for the character. The version Marvel hopes to craft is a lot younger than the previous portrayals and will deal largely with him being a kid in high school.

"He's younger by I think five or six or seven or eight years than either Tobey [Maguire] or Andrew [Garfield] when they were cast and that's very intentional," Feige said in an interview with LA Times. "You look at the early comic books of Spider-Man and what was so great about what Stan Lee and Steve Ditko did was they said what if one of the most powerful heroes we have is a high school kid who also has to do homework and isn't a billionaire, or isn't a genius scientist, or isn't a trained assassin, or isn't another scientist who had an accident but is a kid?"

The 'Spider-Man' solo film is set to premiere in 2017, with his first appearance to be in 'Captain America: Civil War' in 2016.
