'Spider-Man' New Movie News: Writers and Directors Speak On Solo Film
If it wasn't apparent yet, Marvel and Sony seem to have something really special brewing for their next iteration of Spider-Man.
In a recent interview with USA Today, writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein speak a bit more on what kind of world their crafting for this movie.
"The tone will be really grounded, about a real kid who gets these powers and what that means with a geeky, outcast kid and how he deals with them," Goldstein said. "You don't instantly become a superhero, it's a long journey. [Peter Parker] is spending a lot more time in high school. And so we have time to sort of develop the powers with him and experience the wish fulfillment. And also just the fact that it's really alienating to other people."
"I don't think the origins story is gonna be in there, and also I think we're going to avoid the emo dance [from Spider-Man 3]... as much as I loved it," Daley jokes.
They also go on to state that while his powers will play a huge role in his life, it doesn't fix his problems outside of crime-fighting and keeping it a secret makes his life even more difficult.
The director for the solo film, Jon Watts also assured the collaboration between him and the writers being very effective in an interview with the Daily Beast.
"We're just getting started," he says. "It remains to be seen how we're going to do that, but Marvel is a very collaborative place and it's Marvel and Sony, which is an interesting dynamic."
British actor Tom Holland is set to portray the title character in 2017, however his first appearance as the webslinger will pop up in 'Captain America: Civil War' on May 6, 2016.
