'Spider-Man' News: Director For Solo Movie Speaks About Tom Holland

It seems that all the pieces are finally in place for Spider-Man to make his grand entrance in the MCU. Along with the actor, Tom Holland, the director and writers have all been chosen to helm his solo film for 2017.

While he has briefly spoken up on his upcoming adaptation before, director Jon Watts was tapped by by EW to offer some more details on what we can expect. He begins by explaining how Holland is the perfect candidate for the character.

"He can be a real high school student, he says. "That's why people love Spider-Man. He's the most grounded, relatable of superheroes. And Tom can really do that. He captures that. And he can do a standing back-flip. He's perfect."

Spider-Man is set to debut in the MCU well before his solo film in 'Captain America: Civil War.' This introduction will serve as the audience's first take on the rebooted character, meaning they'll be setting the pace, raising the question as to if Watts will be collaborating with the directors for that movie, Anthony and Joe Russo.

"I mean, it's a big universe, so everyone sort of works with each other to make sure that there's continuity and that it all fits together," Watts explains. "It's really exciting actually. We're just getting started, working on the script and all that, but it's going to be a great process."

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have been announced to pen the script for the solo film, and they've recently stated that the character will have a reminiscent comedic spin on him. It will also largely deal with him being a social outcast in high school and balancing being a superhero.

The Spider-Man solo film is set to premiere in July 28, 2017.
