'Spider-Man: Homecoming' News, Cast: UFC Fighter Tyron Woodley, Martha Kelly Joins Cast?
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is currently in the early days of production in Atlanta, Ga., and has just added new cast members.
Standup comedian Martha Kelly and UFC fighter Tyron Woodley signed on for unspecified roles in the upcoming film. While there is no information yet as to when they will start filming, the involvement of Tyron Woodley has been hinted at this past weekend.
Woodley somewhat confirmed that he's joining the next installment of the "Spider-Man" movie in an interview on The MMA Hour, following his victory last Saturday in a fight in Atlanta.
"I don't know if I can even say this, but I'm working on a Marvel movie on Thursday in Atlanta."
Woodley is a UFC welterweight champion fighting under the nickname "The Chosen One." He currently appears in "Kickboxer: Vengeance" with fellow Marvel star Dave Bautista. On the other hand, Kelly currently stars in the comedy "Infinity Baby."
Hailed as Marvel's take on John Hughes' iconic eighties movies, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" released its first footage last week during the San Diego Comic-Con 2016.
Joining Woodley and Kelly in the cast are Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Michael Keaton as the villain Vulture, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty Brant, and Logan Marshall-Green as The Tinkerer.
There have also been rumors that Michael Mando is playing Carnage, while Abraham Attah will play Miles Morales. Robert Downey, Jr. is also set to return as Tony Stark/ Iron Man.
Directed by Jon Watts and written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, the film is expected to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
