'Space Jam 2' Cast Update, Release Date Rumors: Other NBA Players Going To Join Lebron James?
The news about a "Space Jam 2" starring Lebron James being in production has been confirmed. Now the rumors are flying that some NBA players will join the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar for the much-anticipated sequel.
The news surrounding "Space Jam 2" is silent about who among the present generation of superstars will join Lebron James. But that's to be expected since the film is still in the writing process, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
THR said Justin Lin, Alfredo Botello and Andrew Dodge are penning the script for the sequel. Lin is best known for the sixth installment of "Fast & Furious" as well as "Star Trek Beyond."
The original "Space Jam" signed Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Bradley, Muggsy Bogues and Larry Johnson whose basketball talents were taken by the aliens who dubbed themselves the Monstars.
A Forbes article listed the names of NBA players who will likely be part of the film.
Among the names the article floated are Lebron's Cavs' teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Jeremy Lin of the Charlotte Hornets, Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics and Zach Lavine of the Minnesota Timberwolves. There's also DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks and Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks.
In the NBA, however, Lebron James' closest friends are Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch if they make a cameo.
All the NBA players mentioned have not issued a statement about being included in the rumors for "Space Jam 2." The news reports don't even mention whether the sequel will follow the same storyline as the first.
"Space Jam 2" movie release date is not confirmed yet.
