On last Tuesday night's episode of 'Sons of Anarchy', fans of the series got the chance to see one of their favorite characters killed off and written from the show in its penultimate episode.

Katey Sagal who plays Gemma Teller on the show met her maker on Tuesday night. For those unfamiliar with the show, Sagal's character is the matriarch of the motorcycle club, the Sons of Anarchy.

She is the mother of president of the club, Jackson Teller, also known as Jax. She has been the glue that has held the club together for years, up until she makes some poor decisions that leads to her death.

Last season, we saw Gemma kill her son's wife, Tara. There was one witness who saw it all happen, Juice. Juice is now in prison, but after Jackson went to visit him, he spilled his guts about Gemma's sins.

When Gemma catches wind that Jackson knows, she does what she does best and runs. Eventually, Jackson tracks her down only to shoot her in the back of the head.

Sagal said that she always knew her character would be killed by her son. She said it was a very emotional episode since she has been with the cast since the show began in 2008. Kurt Sutter, who is the creator of the show, is also Sagal's husband and she said working with him on the show has been great as well. He helped her become another iconic character in the world of television.

'Sons of Anarchy' is taking their final ride and the show will end next Tuesday for good. Many say that Sutter has a prequel up his sleeve and fans of the show are definitely ready for more!
