‘Sons of Anarchy’ Finale Recap, Spoilers: Jax’s Journey Ends in the Show’s Most Watched Episode
The series finale of 'Sons of Anarchy' was shown by means of a two-hour episode on Tuesday, December 9, and turned out to be the most watched episode of the entire seven seasons.
Around 6.4 million viewers tuned in to witness the end of Jax Teller's journey in a series that has been filled with brotherhood and bloody deaths.
In a report by EW, it stated that the finale had a 3.3 rating among adults ages 18-49, nearly tying with CBS's 'Victoria's Secret Fashion Show' presentation.
Ever since showrunner Kurt Sutter mentioned that the series will only run for seven seasons, fans predicted what would happen to the all characters, especially Jax.
Seventy-two percent of fans predicted that Jax would die in the finale, with 25 percent saying that he would commit suicide on his father's bike, and they were right. Jax rode his bike and rammed it head-on into Papa's Goods truck while he was being chased by about 20 cops, ending his life.
The series has always centered on Jax's life and how he tried to transform SAMCRO, a motorcycle club founded by his father John Teller, in to a legitimate business.
Each season shows how Jax goes through a series of betrayals and tragedy, leading up to the death of his wife, Tara, who was killed by his own mother, Gemma.
All the while, Gemma misled Jax about the identity of Tara's killer, causing him to spill innocent blood.
Finally, Jax found out about what his mother did, and kills her in an emotional scene during the show's penultimate episode.
The show's final scene shows Jax leading the police out in the desert, which ended the same way John Teller's ride ended; with Jax driving his bike straight into a big rig.
The finale episode ended with a Shakespeare quote from 'Hamlet' which read, "Doubt thou the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love."
