Social Distortion Cover Creedence Clearwater Revival Song 'Up Around the Song', Will Debut on 'Up Around the Bend' for 'Free Birds' Soundtrack (VIDEO)
The California punk rock band Social Distortion has done it's best to cover the Creedence Clearwater Revival's classic song "Up Around the Bend" and it sounds pretty awesome (listen below).
Here is what Social Distortion's Mike Ness (guitar/vocal) shares with Rolling Stone magazine:
"In third grade, I was listening to Creedence Clearwater records as well as Beatles and Rolling Stones. Covering this song was easy and natural, as it is a major part of the foundation in my songwriting. It was a blast recording it and it will be even more fun playing it live."
Social Distortion's cover of "Up Around the Bend" will be on the soundtrack for the upcoming 3D animated movie Free Birds.
Free Birds hits theaters on November 1st starring Owen Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Amy Poehler (watch trailer above).
Plotline:
After being pardoned by the President of the United States, Reggie the Turkey (Owen Wilson) lives a comfortable life at Camp David enjoying pizza and telenovelas. On the other hand, Jake (Woody Harrelson) is the president and the only member of Turkeys Liberation Front.[4] After initial rivalry and Jake bag kidnapping Reggie, they team up and hijack a time machine in a government lab and travel back in time to the first Thanksgiving to prevent turkeys from becoming the traditional holiday meal.
