Snoop Dogg News: Texas Trooper in Trouble after Taking Photo with Rap Icon

A state trooper from Texas has gotten himself into trouble by the authorities for posing for a picture with Snoop Dogg. The trooper has reportedly been ordered to undergo counseling for the taking the picture, according to the Daily Mail.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Trooper named Billy Spears was asked to pose for a photograph by the popular rap star Snoop Dogg, at the music and film festival in Austin, Texas. The rap star's publicist took the picture of the two together.

Reportedly, the commanding official drove roughly 80 miles round trip to give orders to the Trooper. The counseling order read, "While working a secondary employment job, Trooper Spears took a photo with a public figure who has a well-known criminal background, including numerous drug charges. The public figure posted the photo on social media, and it reflects poorly on the agency," according to the Dallas Morning News.

Ty Clevenger, Spears' attorney, speaking to the newspaper said that his client didn't ask to take the photo with Snoop Dogg; it was a request from the rapper's publicist.

Snoop Dogg has been convicted for drug possession and stood trial for murder in 1993 before being acquitted.

Snoop Dogg posted the picture on his Instagram account, along with the caption, "Me n my deputy dogg." The Trooper later claimed that he did not know who the celebrity was, according to Time Magazine.

Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials speaking to the newspaper aid that the snap "reflects poorly on the agency," though Spears will receive no formal disciplinary action for posing with a known felon.
