When the long-awaited SNL 40th Anniversary Show takes places on February 15, many celebrities will return for the momentous milestone including former SNL cast member Eddie Murphy.

The aforementioned special will begin on Sunday night at 8:00 pm ET and can be viewed online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).

Murphy was part of the long running sketch comedy series from 1980-1984, where he launched his acting career to superstardom.

"It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it," said Murphy to NewsOne regarding his 31 year hiatus from Saturday Night Live series.

"They're having a 40th anniversary...I'm going to that. And that will be the first time I've been back since I left."

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt also shared his thoughts on the upcoming special that reunite memorable cast members from the series past and present.

"Saturday Night Live is an institution unlike anything else in television history. The many brilliant 'Not Ready for Primetime Players' over the years is a who's who of film and television comedy for the last two generations. The roster includes everyone from the iconic first cast in 1975 to household names ranging from Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Will Ferrell, and Adam Sandler, to Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers-to name only a few.," said Greenblatt in a press release last year.

"This brand, which is still one of the highest-rated comedies on television, was the brainchild of Lorne Michaels, who still presides over the whole enterprise today. This special is just one of the many ways we plan to celebrate SNL's historic 40th season next year."

The red carpet event will broadcast at 7:00 pm ET on NBC, the following stars that are expect to attend the event are the following celebrities: Adam Sandler, Amy Poehler, Bill Murray, Bradley Cooper, Chevy Chase, Chris Rock, Dan Aykroyd and many more.
