'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4 Renewal News, Spoilers: How Will Ichabod and The Witnesses Battle After Abbie's Death?

Following the death of Abbie during the battle against Pandora and The Hidden One in the finale of "Sleepy Hollow" season 3, fans are wondering how Ichabod Crane and the Witnesses will get on with their lives and fight their battles in season 4.

Rumors have been going around that the showrunners may introduce a new character to replace Abbie as the partner of Ichabod, and the replacement will have to be a blood relative in order to work.

In his recent interview, season 4 showrunner Clifton Campbell confirmed that Abbie is not going to return for the next season. According to him, Abbie's reflections would still be felt in the series, but that does not mean that Abbie is coming back.

Now that Abbie is gone, the challenge is to find someone who can take Abbie's place in the next season and subtly make her fans forget how good actress Beharie was in playing her character for the first three seasons of the show.

For season 4, the new Witness will have to build a rapport with Ichabod so they could work together in fighting the supernatural. Fans consider Abbie and Ichabod's storyline an ill-fated one, as Abbie died without them even professing their love for each other.

According to Campbell, of all the characters in the series, it was Abbie who had done the best sacrifice, dignifying her role as a Witness. He also said that killing off her character in the season 3 finale may have been a poignant conclusion for Abbie, but it gave justice to the show which has always been known for its shocking finales.
