Fans are set to get some bad news about Abbie in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4, according to its showrunner.

In his interview with TV Line, "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 showrunner Clifton Campbell teased that Abbie made the supreme sacrifice to save the world and her character died in the season finale. Campbell added that she would not return to the show as Abbie, mentioning that it was certainly the possibility, with their good dynamics with Nicole and how much he had helped build them the previous three season.

According to Campbell, Abbie's reflections, as well as the idea of her, would be around and it was something they had talked about. But for the showrunner, it was not as Abbie's character.

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Campbell clarified that they did not like to look at it as killing off Abbie. He mentioned that the show had been magic for three seasons because of Nicole and her commitment to the character, adding that she had really planted a flag in the series for the show's team.

As per Campbell, Abbie's dynamics with Tom and Crane had been instrumental to the progress of the show's storyline. The showrunner added that as television undergoes evolution and metamorphosis, it becomes vital to acknowledge the sensitivity of characters, more specifically in a realm like theirs.

For the showrunner, Abbie honorably served her dynamics with Crane, adding that she had done the best sacrifice, which dignified her role as a Witness.

"Sleepy Hollow" left fans with season 3 episode 18, which is entitled "Ragnarok." According to Spoilers Guide, the episode saw Abbie and Crane had an interesting discovery, which helped them think what they should do to complete Pandora's box. The group also worked intensively to defeat the Hidden One and stop him from destroying humanity.
