'Sleepy Hollow' Season 4 Cast News: Janina Gavankar Signs Up To Play Ichabod's New Partner

Janina Gavankar is joining the cast of "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 as the new partner of Ichabod. She is going to replace Abbie Mills, who was killed off in the season 3 finale.

Janina Gavankar will play the role of Diana, a Special Agent for Homeland Security.

Deadline describes her character as "a single mom and former military officer who's currently a Special Agent for Homeland Security. She's got a tough, take-charge personality, punctuated by a wry sense of humor. She also has a softer, more caring side which emerges when she's with her young daughter."

The description adds that she does not initially believe in the supernatural, creating a clash with Crane. They also have their different ways of accomplishing missions, because while Crane is methodical and research-focused, she is task-oriented and active.

In other news, Neil Jackson of "Sleepy Hollow" is set to make an appearance in the upcoming season of "The Originals." This was revealed by "The Originals" star Joseph Morgan at the San Diego Comic-Con 2016.

In "Sleepy Hollow," Neil Jackson is the friend of Ichabod who eventually turned into his enemy. While little is known yet about his character in the upcoming series, it was recently revealed that Jackson is going to play a vampire named Alistair.

Other television credits of Neil Jackson include his roles on "Blindspot," "Person of Interest" and "Make It or Break It."

"Sleepy Hollow" season 4 moves to Washington, D.C. Recent reports say that casting is still ongoing for the new crew of research analyst Seth, Rosa, the "female MacGyver," and another male big bad.

"Sleepy Hollow" returns in the midseason of 2017.
