'Sleepy Hollow' Cast News: Nikki Reed Cast as Betsy Ross on 'Sleepy Hollow'
Nikki Reed, best known for her role in the Twilight saga has been cased as Betsy Ross, as confirmed by Entertainment Weekly.
This development was first announced by The Hollywood Reporter.
Ross, who will be a new regular in Sleepy Hollow, is remembered in American history as the seamstress who created the nation's first flag.
However, she also secretly works as an operative for George Washington.
More well known, is her romantic history with Ichabod Crane, who is played by Tom Mison in the show.
Co creator and executive producer, Len Wiseman spoke about the decision to cast Reed in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow," said Wiseman. "Nikki's the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show's twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross."
The announcement adds to news about the cast for the third season of Sleepy Hollow, which lost three series regulars at the end of season two.
Orlando Jones, who played Frank Irving on the show, will not be returning for the third season, according to a report from Variety.
His departure was coupled with a time of major transition for the series.
Mark Goffman stepped down as showrunner before the renewal for a third season of the show was announced.
In addition, two regular characters, Katrina Crane, played by Katia Winter, an Henry Parrish, played by John Noble, were killed at the end of season two.
The show had a rocky second season, and the deaths show that they may be trying to clean house for season three.
