Skype Translator Update News: Skype Confirms Translation Service will be Completed by the End of Summer 2015

Skype confirmed on Monday that its Skype Translator, a translating service, will be geared up by this summer end. Currently, the Skype Translator is in its preview version and supports four dialects.

Quoting Venture Beat, Latin Post reports that Skype Translator is basically a real-time technology that Skype desires to add to Skype for the Windows app by the end of summer, 2015.

According to Skype, the app's preview version supports four dialects, including English, Italian, Spanish and Mandarin, in addition to 50 instantaneous messaging languages.

This new real-time technology is dependent on machine learning. In other words, the translation service will improve when it is used more and more.

According to the report, Skype did away with the preview sign-up requirement for Skype Translator in May. Following the removal of that requirement, Skype announced that it has witnessed a 300 percent raise in the use of Skype Translator. Going at this rate, the translator is likely to improve quickly.

Currently, Skype Translator is being offered as an individual app. In fact, this is considered to be a good move by Skype, as it is possible that the technology may not work properly in its early stages. So far, the preview app has only been available for six months.

As the Skype Translator was solely released for Windows, it definitely makes sense to have it added to the Windows desktop app first. However, Skype did not announce the versions of the app on Monday.

Eventually, different versions of Skype Translator may come to Linux and Mac as an individual app. Alternatively, Skype may also integrate them right into the Skype app. However, it is unlikely that a Skype Translator app for Android, iOS and Windows Phone will come soon.

Meanwhile, the release of Skype Translator lines at the end of 2015 summer is in like with the upgrade to the latest Windows operating system Windows 10, which will start rolling out from July 29. The Verge reports that Microsoft is beginning the preview of a new version of Skype for Windows 10 to partners. Microsoft also has plans to preview its new Skype for Windows 10 to the public in the ensuing weeks.
