'SimCity BuildIt' Downloaded More Than 15 Million Times Since Release

Electronic Arts proudly announced that SimCity BuildIt recorded more than 15 million downloads in the first three weeks of its release, Game Spot reported.

SimCity BuildIt is the mobile version of EA's building stimulation game SimCity, and on Jan. 14, the California-based video game company released an infographic on their official site about the status of the game.

"Welcome Mayors!" the post read, "SimCity BuildIt reimagines the classic city building game on mobile. In the first three weeks since the game launched, players have been busy."

They shared that the game has been download more than 15,500,000 million times, which is around 725,000 new Mayors or players a day, or 30,000 every hour, or 500 every minute.

Players also logged in more than 8,300 years of gameplay in only three weeks with 648,502,532 individual gameplay sessions, and have moved in more than 183billion Sims, 26 times the population on planet Earth.

EA also shared that SimCity BuildIt was named one of the Top 5 Games Downloaded on the iOS in over 100 countries, and seemed to have done best in Asian countries. The happiest in-game populations came from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, according to Segment Next.

The game's Mayors also proved to be big earners, raking in more than 19 trillion Simoleons, the in-game currency, though they also racked up a United States National debt of more than 18 trillion.

Still, a majority of the game's Mayors did show that they were green and planet-friendly, constructing 29 million wind and solar power plants compared to the 15 million oil and coal power plants. It's not half bad, if only the same would happen in real life as well.

The EA staffers stated, "We're thrilled you're enjoying SimCity BuildIt, and we're excited to bring new content and fresh updates to players as we grow and SimCity BuildIt over time."
