'Silent Hills' News, Rumors: Microsoft Rumored to Buy Game from Konami for Xbox One
Recent rumors have suggested that the cancelled 'Silent Hills' attempts to live on through a deal with Microsoft.
According to Rooster Teeth, Microsoft is in pursuit to purchase the game for up to billions of dollars to make it an Xbox One exclusive title. Microsoft has declined to comment on the allegations at this point in time.
"According to Rooster Teeth's source, Silent Hills is 80% complete, and Microsoft is trying to purchase the property for "billions" of dollars by E3 this year - where it will officially reveal the game as an Xbox One exclusive. It could reportedly be released as soon as March 2016," writes IGN.
Rooster Teeth also reports that Konami pulled the PT demo from the Playstation Store as a "show of good faith to Microsoft."
The game was initially believed to be disbanded because of Hideo Kojima's falling out with Konami. The video game developer was set to collaborate with horror director Guillermo Del Toro. 'Walking Dead' actor Norman Reedus was also attached to the project.
"I'm super excited to be a part of [Silent Hills]," said Reedus stated in a previous interview with IGN. "Both [Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro] are geniuses at what they do. We haven't shot the heavy stuff yet."
Konami has recently released a statement saying that they are attempting to broaden their scope of entertainment:
"Konami will continue to embrace the challenge of creating entertainment content via different platforms; across not only mobile platforms, but for home consoles, arcade units, and cards, to meet the changing needs of the times."
