Actress Sienna Miller Returns to Broadway for ‘Cabaret’, Replaces Emma Stone

American actress Sienna Miller will star as nightclub songstress Sally Bowles in the musical 'Cabaret', which will last for six weeks, from February 17 until March 29.

The story of 'Cabaret' is about a novelist Cliff Bradshaw who fell in love with the Kit Kat Klub singer Sally in the German cabaret during the 1930's.

In 1996, the novel was adapted into a musical hit. In 1972, it was made into a movie that starred Liza Minnelli and gained an Oscar.

'Cabaret' was revived in 1998 in Broadway and lasted for six years. It garnered four Tony awards such as Best Musical Revival, Best Lead Actor for Alan Cumming, Best Lead Actress for Natasha Richardson and Best Featured Actor for Ron Rifkin.

The most recent version that started in April 2014 starred Michelle Williams before Emma Stone took over the role. Williams gained mixed reviews from her portrayal of Sally.

Miller will replace Emma Stone, who was dubbed as the "fragile Sally Bowles." However, this is not the first time that Miller will star in a Broadway musical.

The actress debuted in 2009 with the show 'After Miss Julie' where she gained reviews such as "out of depth" from Variety, "awfully actressy" from Newday and her "grasp never seems firm" from New York Times. Miller played as a rich young woman who took over his father's assets and who desired their family chauffeur.

As for her film career, Miller recently starred in a string of movies such as 'American Sniper' and 'Foxcatcher'. The actress received great reviews for her performances in both films.

Aside from 'Cabaret', fans can watch out for Miller's movies this year such as 'Black Mass' and 'High Rise'.
