Shirley Manson News: Garbage Band Singer Slams Kanye West in Open Letter on Facebook

Sam Smith was hands down this past Sunday's biggest Grammy Awards winner, but Kanye West, despite not being handed an award, was able to put the spotlight on himself nonetheless.

West threatened to do a repeat of his performance in 2009 when he interrupted Taylor Swift's own big Grammy moment, but instead jumped back down from the stage. He did however let loose his tongue on the E! network's aftershow.

"I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain't gonna play with them no more. And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should've given his award to Beyonce," West said.

Since then, musicians have begun speaking out in distaste for the rapper's antics. Garbage lead vocalist Shirley Manson even posted an open letter to West on her Facebook page.

"Dear Kanye West,

It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry.

You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.

You make yourself petty and spoilt.

In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.

Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.

You are making yourself look like a complete [expletive].

Ps. I am pretty certain Beyonce doesn't need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she got everything covered perfectly well on her own," the letter read.

Beck surprised everyone including himself Sunday, when he edged Beyonce and Smith to win Album of the Year for his "Morning Phase" effort.

Beck took home two Grammys that night, also getting the nod for Best Rock Album.
