Shia LaBeouf Rape Incident During #IAmSorry Project Performance
The 'Transformers' star, Shia LaBeouf, recently shared an unsettling experience he had during his performance with his #IAmSorry project. His collaborators testified that the incident truly happened.
Shia LaBeouf recalled the trauma from the alleged rape incident as his project partners confirmed the unfortunate event through Twitter on Sunday.
Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö posted on her Twitter page "important clarifications" regarding their collaborative project. She made it clear in her tweet that they never stated that "people could do whatever they wanted to Shia" during the event.
"As soon as we were aware of the incident starting to occur, we put a stop to it and ensured that the woman left," Rönkkö posted.
British journalist Piers Morgan, who has addressed LaBeouf as "pathetic," asked the reason for letting the woman who has allegedly raped LaBeouf walk away.
British artist Luke Turner responded to Morgan's inquiry stating "it wasn't clear at the time precisely what happened." He said that the safety of everyone in the gallery was the top-most priority. He also added that the woman didn't simply "walk away" but rather, "ran out."
LaBeouf spoke about the incident during his interview with Dazed magazine. He said that a woman came with her boyfriend, who was waiting outside the door during the alleged rape, whipped his legs for ten minutes, stripped his clothes and raped the actor.
"There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick," LaBeouf added, "It was no good, not just for me but her man as well."
LaBeouf's girlfriend Mia Goth was also waiting in line on the same day the rape incident happened. It was Valentine's Day and the couple had been separated for five days without communication. On that note, LaBeouf couldn't give her an explanation for what happened.
Despite many criticism about LaBeouf's statement, the 27-year-old actor has not commented again about the incident.
The #IAmSorry project was a response to LaBeouf's "genuine existential crisis" after he was accused to plagiarize Daniel Clowes' short story. The project was held at 7354 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles where LaBeouf stayed from Feb. 11 to Feb 16.
