Sherri Shepherd News: Former TV Talks Show Host Opens Up About Her Surrogacy Legal Battle
Former The View host Sherri Shepherd recently opened up about her past struggles in life particularly the Surrogacy legal battle that happened just a few months ago. In an interview with People magazine the tough Shepherd revealed how hard it was for her especially since she was afraid of her ex-husband leaving.
Apparently some things happen even when we avoid it to happen just like in Shepherd's situation. "My situation was a sense of, I didn't state what I needed and what I wanted and what I didn't want for being scared of somebody leaving the relationship," Shepherd told the publication. "There are consequences to everything, but I was scared to say, 'That's not going to work for me. I don't want that.'"
Shepherd and ex-husband Lamar Sally married in 2011 and since then the two pursued surrogacy with Sally's sperm and an egg donor. But unfortunately, before even the baby arrived, the two were caught up in a financial legal battle as to their arriving baby at that time and the result was not what Shepherd wanted which is to be the legal mother for the child who's now 1 year old.
"I am appealing the ruling that happened and he gets his settlement every month," she said of her ex-husband. "He's happy. There nothing I can do. It's out of my hands. You move on and I have a son. I have to take care of him so everything is good."
"I'm the type of person I feel like as long as you can get up, you have another chance," she continued adding, "I've gone through stuff a nasty divorce, nasty custody battle but for me, I get up and I smile. I go through it and I make it through."
Indeed Shepherd is one strong woman and surely nothing can hinder her from being a great mother.
