'Sherlock' Season 4 Update: Parody Sets Sherlock, Dr. Watson's Adventures To Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' 'Thrift Shop'
It is still a long wait before "Sherlock" returns for its fourth season, so YouTube channel The Hillywood Show has decided to provide a musical diversion to keep fans of the BBC drama entertained.
The parody sets the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson to the tune of "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, but the twist is that its lyrics has been changed to fit Sherlock and Watson's unconventional way of life. The video basically recreates some of the most remarkable scenes in the series, including "A Study in Pink," "The Great Game," "A Scandal in Belgravia" and "The Sign of Three."
The video also features a brief appearance of "Sherlock" co-creator Steven Moffat, who turns up somewhere between the musical part of the video and the credits sequence. Most of the scenes were also filmed in the actual locations used in the hit show.
"Sherlock" is currently on hiatus as it works around the hectic schedules of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Freeman recently appeared in "The Hobbit" trilogy, while Cumberbatch provided the voice of Smaug the Dragon and the Necromancer. Both also joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Cumberbatch starring Marvel's "Doctor Strange."
This year, The BBC aired "Sherlock: The Abominable Bride," a "Sherlock" New Year's Day special that reimagined the modernized characters from the series in the original Victorian setting of the original series. The episode happened while Sherlock was on the plane he was boarding in the season 3 finale.
BBC has yet to announce the exact premiere date of "Sherlock" season 4.
