‘Shadow of the Beast’ Game News: Retro Game Makes a Comeback with Stunning Visuals for PS4 [VIDEO]

Heavy Spectrum Studios is currently working with Sony to resurrect a 1980s game played on the Amiga console, "Shadow of the Beast." The side-scrolling game which was initially created during the earlier times of Sony's 'Studio Liverpool' will now come in full 3D experience on PS4 using the same story of Aarbron.

Screenshots of the gameplay were recently posted by Matt Birch of Heavy Spectrum Entertainment Labs on the Playstation blog. Birch was passionate about the reboot of the game on the next-gen platform, PS4, because the game had an impact to their generation when they were kids.

"When our team started putting together the concepts for our take on Shadow of the Beast, one thing we kept coming back to was how important it was to us that we made sure that our game stirred up that same level of emotion, especially through the visually striking, alien landscapes of Karamoon," He wrote.

The story of 'Shadow of the Beast' follows the life of Aarbron. Aarbron was kidnapped as a child and transformed into monstrous warrior-slave by an evil ruler Maleloth. There has been barely any human memory in Aarbron until he sees his father being slain. He becomes bent on avenging the life of his father and fulfilling revenge for what he has become to Maleloth.

Initially, 'Shadow of the Beast' was a side-scrolling game where the only actions were jump and attacks, now the story would not be complete with Sony's visuals and game programming. "The balance between beauty and brutality has been a running theme for us while we've been building the game," according to Matt Birch on his post.

According to DigitalSpy, the game will have better combat maneuvers including offensive lunges which can be seen on the game trailers. There's also a berserker point when Aarbron can dispatch several enemies at once which was the same with the 1980's version. Fighting styles would also vary depending on the type of enemy is on the scene.

The game trailer was first launched in Gamescon 2013 and the game will be exclusively released for PS4 within the year.
