'Shades Of Blue' Pilot Cast: Jennifer Lopez Is A Low Maintenance Cop On NBC

While Madonna and Britney Spears are still dressing like teenagers as they dance around hot young men, their pal Jennifer Lopez is gracefully ageing and embracing a woman's adventure.

Currently on the set of NBC series "Shades of Blue," Jennifer Lopez has completely forgotten about rebonds and brazilian blowouts. Jenny from the block sports loose curls falling past her shoulders. The rest of her outfit is just as low-maintenance, reports The Daily Beast.

The international superstar completely embodies "Harlee Santos," the single mom detective she portrays in "Shades of Blue."

Santos works with her team in Brooklyn headed by Lt. Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta), who displays valiance and leadership despite his questionable ethics, reports USA Today.

As the name suggests, the series will dwell on people who are neither good nor bad.

The series takes a turn when Harlee is asked by FBI to become their informant. She fears for her safety, as she decides where to put her loyalty.

"She's on the right side of things, and then all of a sudden she's not," says Lopez, 46, chatting in her trailer. "I don't think I've ever played a character this complex and layered, who's juggling and struggling with so many things at once. Sometimes you can have really good intentions, but things happen, and you think, 'How did I get here? This is not what I intended.' "

Lopez, who also happens to be to be the show's executive producer, wanted to dive on something totally new.

The drama opens with J.lo saying "I always wanted to be a good cop," she whispers. "But there's no straight line to that. I always told myself that the end would justify the means. But now that I'm at the end, I can't justify anything. It happened so slowly I didn't realize. And so quickly I never saw it coming."

"Shades of Blue" airs Thursdays 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
