Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Praises God on Twitter After Devastating Super Bowl Loss to New England Patriots [SEE HERE]
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson recently glorified God on social media after his team lost to the New England Patriots at Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday night.
At the game, Wilson threw an ill-timed interception pass to Patriots strong safety Malcolm Butler at the goal line with 20 seconds remaining in the game, which resulted in the shocking 28-24 defeat on February 1.
"Thank You God for the opportunity," wrote Wilson on Twitter after the historic loss, "We'll be back... I will never waiver on who He has called me to be..."
In addition, Wilson also went on Twitter to offer an inspirational Bible verse to his fans especially the loyal Seahawks fans aka 'The 12th Man'.
#BVD I will love You, O LORD, my strength. (Psalms 18:1 NKJV)," tweeted Wilson on February 2.
As a result of Wilson's ill-advised throw to Butler at Super Bowl XLIX, the Patriots won their first title in a decade and fourth Super Bowl championship overall.
"I just had a vision that I was going to make a big play and it came true," said Butler to reporters after the game, "I'm just blessed. I can't explain it right now. It's crazy."
However, the Seahawks will look to return to the Promised Land next season when they try to rebound after their historic title defense came to a crashing halt on American football's grandest stage.
"I've watched a lot of games and been in a lot of games and it always hurts to lose no matter how you lose it. It doesn't matter how you win it. You just wanna score one more point than they do. There were so many things we could have done throughout the game I think just to solidify a potential win for us but it didn't happen for us. You could hand the ball to Marshawn [Lynch], that's a great option," Wilson also told reporters.
"You can also throw it, which is a great option. We thought we had 'em. I thought I was going to make a touchdown when I threw it, when I let it go I thought it was gonna be game over. ... When they called the call I just trusted it like I always do, and just trusted us, trust my instincts, trust the play and there wasn't really anything else that we could do. I put the blame on me. I'm the one that threw it. It's something you learn from, something you grow from."
