Olivia Pope is set to be a brand new woman in one of ABC's hit television series, "Scandal" season 5, according to the latest spoilers.

In her interview with TV Line during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Jan. 7 to promote her role in HBO's biopic "Confirmation," "Scandal" season 5 lead star Kerry Washington teased fans that her character Pope had dramatically changed, following incidents like breakup and abortion.

Washington said that what had happened at the end of the winter finale had represented a huge decision for her, adding that the character was a different woman because of it.

According to Christian Today, fans are set to meet a tougher Pope in "Scandal" season 5. The publication mentioned that Pope had looked as if she had been happy about spending the holidays at her home, along with beginning a new life apart from Fitz and the White House.

Previous reports also said that "Scandal" season 5 is set to see the aftermath of the deeds of Pope's father, as he had been free to roam around the city streets to enjoy his new liberty. With Jake's wife being one of the victims of Pope's father, learning about the latter's freedom would be uncomfortable for him.

The previous episodes of "Scandal" season 5 also saw Pope and Fitz split up, following a major quarrel. Pope was also seen in jeopardy as she does the tedious functions of a First Lady while people gradually adapts with the newly elected United States president,

"Scandal" season 5 is set to return to the big screen on Feb. 11.
