'Scandal' Season 5 Plot Spoilers: Will Jake Take Revenge on Olivia and Destroy Everything for Her? [VIDEO]
When 'Scandal' returns to ABC for its Season 5 later this month, viewers will find Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) is still alive and will be causing lots of trouble for Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).
Entertainment Weekly reports that the former operative of the mystifying B-613 subdivision of CIA will play a vital role in the upcoming installment of the political thriller television series. However, this time around he may end up putting his lady love's life in danger, because executive producer Shonda Rhimes has indicated that Jake will "destroy everything." Many are speculating that Rhimes meant he would turn his back on Liv since she is already with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn).
In 'Scandal' Season 4 finale, viewers saw Jake telling Liv that she was free to be with the man she truly loved. It may be possible that Jake was still hoping that Liv would end up choosing him. However, it did not happen and instead she immediately decided to go to the White House and reunite with the POTUS. Soon after, it was believed that Jake was killed after being stabbed multiple times. Now it remains to be seen if he is planning to take revenge following the unfortunate things that happened to him.
In the meantime, ABC released a new promo for 'Scandal' Season 5, which shows some adult scenes featuring Liv and Fitz. The clip shows the two toasting each other at a formal event; while Sally Langston (Kate Burton) can be heard asking the President what he is hiding. What could Fitz be hiding - his affair with Liv or his impending divorce with Mellie (Bellamy Young)?
A report in IB Times said that the opening episode of the upcoming season will show Fitz serving Mellie divorce papers. Apparently, he has discovered that Mellie worked with Rowan (Joe Morton) to secure her seat in the Virginia Senate. Subsequently, he threw her out of the house, and promised to do everything possible to prevent her from becoming the president.
'Scandal' Season 5 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 9:00 p.m. EST on ABC.
