'Scandal' Season 5 Cast: Cornelius Smith Jr. Cast as Series Regular, Bellamy Young’s Character Seeks Revenge

When 'Scandal' returns for Season 5 on ABC this fall, fans of the political thriller television drama are likely to see Marcus Walker more frequently because Cornelius Smith Jr. has now become a series regular.

Quoting TV Line, Christian Today reports that Smith Jr.'s Marcus Walker was seen only in two episodes in Season 4 of the show, but those sudden appearances made a great impact on the audience that he has been included as a regular cast member in the upcoming. The promotion of Walker has prompted fans to wonder whether or not the character will be shaking up things even further in Season 5, after the volatile environment in the Season 4 finale.

According to the report, the showrunners will also address some of the unsolved issues from Season 4 finale in Season 5. For instance, in a recent interview, actress Bellamy Young told Hollywood Life that her character, First Lady Melody "Mellie" Grant, would retaliate against her husband President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) following Fitz dumped her from the White House.

Fans saw that during the 'Scandal' Season 4 finale, Fitz came to know that Mellie had something to do with Vice-President Andrew Nichols (Jon Tenney). Fitz was angered by this and threw out Mellie from the White House. However, Young said that she would not take such treatment silently and has now decided to fight back, even if this means going against the President of the United States.

Talking to TV Line, Young said, "I can't imagine her saying, 'well I accept.'" She added, "I hope ultimately that Mellie is president and Fitz is by her side and he loves her so much again and they've weathered that Olivia storm, and now they're together and it's happiness."

Meanwhile, 'Scandal' fans are already aware that the two characters may not have a happy ending, because they just saw Fitz sharing an intimate moment with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) during the Season 4 finale. Now it remains to be seen whether or not Mellie and Fitz still have a future together, romantically or politically.

'Scandal' Season 5 will premiere on ABC on Sept. 24.
