'Scandal' Season 4 Spoilers: Characters Set to Leave Show, Upcoming Season to Keep Theme
ABC's Scandal Season 3 leaves fans anxious for answers after its stunning cliff-hanger finale. Luckily, the Season 4 premiere is not too far off as it's set to air this Fall at its usual 9 pm time slot.
Season 3 ended with Olivia's father, Rowan Pope, who was revealed as the head of B613 and the one behind all the White House scandals all along. Rowan Pope's deception of the the people with the use of his own daughter, enables the Season 4 premiere episode to be more dramatic and intriguing to viewers.
Olivia Pope played by actress Kerry Washington, teased the fans with what might be in store for her character in her recent interview with the Golden Derby, "The whole season was such a really dark, dark season for Olivia and turned the character upside down for me. I was still playing this strong woman that I've grown to love, [but] she's really gone deep into the cave of her own understanding by having to face her own mother and father and her own dark history."
The show is expected to maintain its thrilling politcal theme with Shonda Rhimes, the show's creator, who has been sticking with what has been working, "We're all just so thrilled to be a part of it. Every day we just trust in Shonda, she's great. There's always a good surprise," Tony Goldwyn said in Us Weekly.
Season 4 is expected to have heavier and darker episodes, especially ending with the ultimate twist in the finale. There were also reports that some of the characters on the show will be missing in the upcoming season. Actor Columbus Short who played Harrison Wright recently announced his exit from the series in April.
Meanwhile, another character was rumoured to have backed out of the premiere episode. Bellamy Young who plays Mellie Grant told TVLine recently, "No, because I don't know if we'll come back immediately [in time]. One year, we skipped 10 months in the middle, so I have no idea where we'll start back. But I can tell you that and as much as [the rape episode] 'Everything's Coming Up Mellie' was a devastating table read, that script for our last episode of Season 3," she said
