'Scandal' Season 4 Episode 17 Recap: Cyrus Beene Finally Ties the Knot with Michael

Thursday's episode of "Scandal" proved to be an interesting one as Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) finally tied the knot with his partner Michael.

After some leaked photos of Michael with another man were released, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) wastes no time in doing some damage control. She talks to Cyrus about his on and off again relationship with Michael, saying that the two should get married at the White House as soon as possible.

Even though he doesn't really love Michael, Cyrus accepts, knowing that it would be best for his career and the LGBT community. However, the marriage is questioned by none other than Fitz, whose stance on gay marriage is quite clear.

Sally Langston, a former politician hosts her own right-winged talk show and discusses the marriage. She says that she will pay $10,000 to anyone who can prove the wedding to be a fake. In order to shut this down, Olivia visits Fitz and convinces him to sign off on Sally being Secretary of State.

She also visits Sally in person and threatens to leak Michael's client list, which has her deceased husband's name on it. With the drama out of the way, Cyrus and Michael are married. Viewers will see if it even lasts though as the couple has said that their feelings for each other are very indifferent.

Throughout the episode, viewers were also shown flashbacks of Cyrus' previous marriages. One was to a woman named Janet, who left after his sexual preference was discovered and the other was James, who was murdered by Jake years back.

Olivia's story behind her gold ring is revealed. Fitz had given it to her and asked her to keep it, despite it being an heirloom and the fact that they broke up. Olivia wakes up from nightmares about her previous kidnapping and throwing the ring at Fitz when they broke up.

"Scandal" airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET on ABC.
