An anonymous source told the Associated Press on Wednesday that the San Francisco 49ers are looking to bid to host a future college football playoff championship game at their new Levi's Stadium.
The absolute latest to bid is May of this year with the winner of the bid to be announced sometimes this fall. According to ESPN, playoff officials have said that all cities have the chance to host a championship. Semifinal games have already been awarded.
According to NBC Sports, the 2016 and 2017 seasons already have been chosen with Glendale Ariz. and Tampa, Fla.Therefore, the 49ers are interested in hosting for 2018, '19 and '20.The first playoff game was currently hosted at the NFL Cowboys' AT&T Stadium between Ohio State and Oregon.
Levi's Stadium was finished last year and has had a lot of use since its completion. The new home for the 49ers is located in Silicon Valley in Santa Clara. The Super Bowl will be played there, and it has hosted the last three Pac-12 championships.
