The defending World Champion San Antonio Spurs (2-1) are looking to lengthen their current winning streak to two games when they face the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
Spurs recently defeated the Atlanta Hawks in a nail biting game by a final score of 94-92 on Monday night after Tim Duncan had 17 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 6 blocks in the aforementioned win.
San Antonio power forward Boris Diaw sealed the victory for the Spurs when he blocked Hawks power forward Pero Antic's final shot attempt before the game ended.
"They did a good job of defending it," said Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer to reporters in reference to his team's recent loss to the Spurs.
"There was a couple of options. Give them credit, they defended everything well and we didn't get a good look."
Meanwhile, the undefeated Rockets (5-0) look to defend their home court and lengthen their winning streak to six games when they battle their Southwest division rival Spurs.
"You've got the most dominant big man in the league roaming around the rim so somebody has to take him (Dwight Howard)," said James Harden to reporters after he totaled 25 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds.
"And then you have tremendous shooters on the wing. It's pretty hard to guard."
Previously, the Rockets defeated the Miami Heat by a score of 108-91 on November 4 after Houston center Dwight Howard had 26 points and 10 rebounds in order to propel his squad to the victory.
"We've started great," said Howard to reporters, "We just want to finish great."
