Samsung Tablet PC News, Rumors: New Device to Sport 18.4-Inch Display?
Thus far, the largest tablets manufactured by Samsung include the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2. According to latest reports, the South Korean tech giant is currently working on a larger tablet with an 18.4-inch display.
Quoting a report in Sam Mobile, IB Times reports some tech enthusiasts have spotted an 18.4-inch Samsung tablet on the import listings and the device has already been sent to India for testing and evaluation. The report claims that the large-sized tablet is listed as Samsung Tablet PC.
Meanwhile, GSM Arena has claimed that it is quite early to forecast whether Samsung will actually be launching the device. According to the listing, following the completion of the evaluation process, the purported tablet will be destroyed with a view to prevent the spreading of its leaked specifications.
As the tablet is coming with a massive display, Samsung may target it to a niche audience. Therefore, the company may manufacture a small number of units of the 18.4-inch tablet. GSMArena further states that a full-size tablet like this will be very appropriate for commercial purposes.
According to the import documents, the value of each 18.4 inches Samsung Tablet PC is about $507. It may give an idea of the amount of money Samsung may have invested in developing a single unit of its largest tablet so far. In case the tablet is launched officially, it is likely to carry a higher price tag.
Samsung has already confirmed that it will be unveiling the Galaxy S6 Edge + and the Galaxy Note 5 phablets at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event in New York on Aug. 13. Both these phablets have similar features like a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, Exynos 7420 chip, and 4 GB of RAM.
Android Authority has reported that a recent teaser released by Samsung Philippines reveals that a larger 7-inch or 8-inch tablet will be unveiled and, according to speculations, it may be a new series of Samsung Galaxy Edge tablet. Moreover, Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Gear A smartwatch, which will sport a round display and be powered by an dual-core Exynos chipset.
