Samsung New Flip Phone G9198 News: New Device With Snapdragon 808, 16MP Camera Launched Exclusively for China
Soon after the global launch of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ at its 'Unpaked' event in New York recently, Samsung has quietly released a flip phone dubbed as G9198 in China. It seems that the new flip phone is the flagship handset of Samsung China.
According to a report in IB Times, as the recently introduced flip phone is to China, it has a Chinese name, but it is being referred to as "Samsung G9198" for clarity.
GSM Arena reported that the Samsung G9198 comes with two 3.9-inch Super AMOLED touch displays, bundled with 768p screen resolution. In terms of software, this dual-display clad flip phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808 chipset, together with a hexa-core processor. The device also comes with 2 GB of RAM.
As far as memory specification is concerned, the Samsung G9198 is has 16 GB of internal storage capacity alongside a microSD card slot for further expansion. The device features a 16-megapixel f/1.9 rear-facing camera unit with an LED flash. On the front, the new phone has a 5-megapixel f/1.9 snapper for shooting selfies.
It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge as well as the latest Galaxy Note 5 all feature the same 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel camera units as their primary and secondary snappers.
In addition, to the regular connectivity options, the Samsung G9198 seems to supports 4G LTE. Apart from incorporating all the features of a smartphone, the new device also comes with heart-rate monitor and it supports dual-SIM. The Samsung G9198 accommodates a modest 2,020 mAh battery unit.
Then again, as of now, the South Korean tech giant is yet to officially confirm the availability of this flip phone outside of China.
